Building Bridges, Boosting Skills: 3D Printing Bringing European Students Together
Two teachers from Miguel Altuna LHII have been in Croatia this week to advance the international project Building Bridges, Boosting Skills. The initiative, led by the Dutch One for All Foundation, started with several Northern European countries and has now expanded to three Southern European schools: CIFP Santurtzi LHII, Miguel Altuna LHII, and Croatia’s Elektrostrojarska Škola in Varaždin.
During the meetings held on Tuesday and Wednesday, we worked with the host school to plan the activities that will be carried out in the coming months. The first major milestone will be on January 21–23, during the Kick-off Week hosted at Miguel Altuna LHII. Four selected students from each school will begin collaborating on a project that combines 3D manufacturing and sustainable development.
Elektrostrojarska Škola shares many similarities with our own center, offering training programs such as Mechatronics, Manufacturing, and Web Applications. We also had the opportunity to visit Metalska Jezgra, an innovation hub near Varaždin, where we were shown their advanced projects in additive manufacturing and software development. In the coming weeks, our students will continue preparing in 3D design and manufacturing. They will also receive support from a teacher from the United States, who will help them improve their public speaking and English presentation skills ahead of the international meeting.
